Malaysia Autoshow 2024 is set to take place next week, and local carmaker Perodua has released a teaser image for its showcase. Interestingly, Perodua’s teaser image suggests a fully-electric (EV) Perodua Myvi, although we wouldn’t want to get too excited about it just yet. With the “EV Myvi”, Perodua’s teaser image also suggests some updates to the Perodua Aruz.
At first glance, Perodua’s teaser image may suggest a hybrid powertrain to showcase at the Autoshow. However, upon closer look and inspection, the superimposed drive layout is simply a stock image of a fully electric drivetrain. You can see the battery pack that has been placed on the car’s floor, and what appears to be an inverter on the front end. The superimposed stock image also showcases the car’s suspension system, although it doesn’t add much meaning to the new drive system.

And as for the “base vehicle” that the EV drive system stock image is superimposed on, it appears to be the beloved Perodua Myvi. If an “EV Myvi” will actually be showcased at the 2024 Malaysia Autoshow, we are certainly looking forward to it.
However, with it being a superimposed stock image, there is also a chance that Perodua will only be showcasing its new hybrid powertrain. The company is already planning on introducing a hybrid model anyway, and this might be our first look at the drive system… but an “EV Myvi” is a lot more exciting, we’ll admit.
Being a superimposed stock image, the drive system does not resemble the hybrid system in the existing Perodua Ativa Hybrid lease car. For all we know, the Myvi in the teaser image may just be a placeholder.

Besides the EV teaser, Perodua is also teasing something new for its Perodua Aruz. Darkened in the teaser image, we’re guessing that the Perodua Aruz may get a new exterior colour scheme. But those are only our guesses for the time being. We’ll wait and see what Perodua will actually showcase at Malaysia Autoshow 2024. Hopefully, it’s not another 1:6 scale model.
