The Proton S70 is the national carmaker’s first all-new sedan in a long time, with the 2016 Proton Persona being its last. Launched late last year, the S70 is marketed as a “C-segment” sedan, with a starting price of RM73,800.
The Proton S70’s dimensions would place itself more as a B-segment sedan though. So, how does the S70 compare against its rivals from the B- and C-segments? Check out our video review to find out!
As mentioned above, the Proton S70’s price tag starts from RM73,800 and tops out at RM94,800. It is offered in four variants, namely the S70 Executive, Premium, Flagship, and Flagship X.
On the outside, all variants except for the entry-level Executive variant get LED headlights along with a taillight bar. Both the Executive and Premium variants are fitted with 16-inch alloys, while the Flagship and Flagship X variants get larger 17-inch units.

Underneath the hood of the Proton S70 across the range is the same 1.5-litre inline-3 turbocharged MPI engine that puts out 150 hp (metric) and 226 Nm. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), power is sent to the front wheels.
Moving inside, the Proton S70 comes standard with equipment such as an electric parking brake (EPB), rear aircon vents, and the remote engine start function. Only the top three variants get leatherette seats, while the large 12.3-inch infotainment head unit along with the 10.3-inch LCD meter combination is reserved only for the top two variants.

On the safety side of things, the Proton S70 is fitted with features such as lane change assist (LCA), rear collision warning (RCW), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), and door opening warning (DOW).
If the more advanced ADAS features are what you’re looking for, you will have to spring for the Flagship and Flagship X. The Proton S70’s ADAS suite includes features such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop & go, and lane departure warning (LDW).
