Speaking to the Managing Director of Tan Chong International, Glenn Tan, shortly after the regional launch of the all-new Subaru Forester, we were told that it will only be introduced in Q2 of 2019.
Three variants will be available, with EyeSight only available a few months after the initial introduction of the all-new AWD SUV. We’re also told that the Malaysian models will not be too different from the Taiwanese-spec Foresters in the video below – so the powered sunroof could be a possibility!
When EyeSight is available for the local Foresters, it will only be limited to the top variants. Subaru recently launched the fully-imported Subaru Outback, the first to feature EyeSight in Malaysia and with the Forester now following suit.
As for the Subaru XV, you’ll just need to be a little more patient as the EyeSight driver assistance system is expected to be available for the crossover, only in 2020.
The all-new Subaru Forester is powered by a 2.0-litre Boxer engine making 156 hp and 196 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed Lineartronic CVT and Subaru’s Symmetrical All-wheel Drive system.
