The rapid pace of Mainland China’s automotive industry is truly staggering. Just a year after Geely unveiled the Galaxy Starship 7, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) counterpart to the Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7), the company has now unveiled the updated model for 2026 ahead of its market launch in China on 19th November, 2025.
To see the changes, you’ll have to look underneath the skin of the updated Galaxy Starship 7, because the exterior is virtually identical to the outgoing model. The updates revolve around the powertrain, where the SUV has received a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor.
While detailed battery specifications were not disclosed, CarNewsChina reports the base model’s CLTC pure-electric range is increased to 130 km, up from 55 km previously. Other variants now offer 135 km, with the top-range model achieving a maximum of 200 km.
Under the hood, the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 retains the current 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 111 hp with a thermal efficiency of 46.5%. The electric motor, however, is upgraded from 218 hp (160 kW) to 238 hp (175 kW), forming the new PHEV setup for 2026.
Charging specification is carried forward from the outgoing model with support for DC charging at 36 kW, enabling a 30-80% recharge in 20 minutes.

Inside, the SUV is now equipped with a larger 15.4-inch central touchscreen, replacing the previous 14.6-inch display. This larger display is powered by the Flyme Auto operating system (OS). The rest of the interior kit remains the same, including the 16-speaker FlymeSound audio system, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, and a 256-colour ambient lighting system.
The ADAS suite is also updated for 2026 with new radar modules and camera hardware, supporting Geely’s “H3” assisted-driving solution. This solution provides high-speed pilot assist and automated parking.
Part of the new ADAS hardware also sees the Galaxy Starship 7 now equipped with small blue indicator lights on the exterior mirrors to signal when ADAS functions are active.
Closer to home, camouflaged units of the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 have been spotted undergoing road tests in Malaysia, signalling that a local debut of the PHEV counterpart to the eMAS 7 is imminent. However, a launch will likely happen sometime next year at the earliest, as Proton is currently preparing for the launch of the all-new Proton Saga by the end of 2025.
