Revealed globally back in 2023, the all-new sixth-generation Subaru Forester sports a completely revamped styling effort that’ll most likely be less divisive than its predecessor. Bold touches such as the large blacked out grille and unique lighting designs help it stand out, while the chunky plastic claddings and 220 mm tall ground clearance reinforces the Forester’s MO as a rugged SUV.

Avid Subaru fans might also spot several design touches that harks back to the first-generation Subaru Forester, including the unique trims on the front lower bumper, as well as the squared-off wheel arches.

Other exterior features include:

  • Automatic LED steering-responsive headlights, auto leveliser
  • LED rear combination lamps
  • LED fog lamps, front and rear
  • 18-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, machined two-tone
  • Low profile roof rails
  • UV protection glass for front windscreen and side windows

The cabin of the all-new 2025 Subaru Forester has also seen a similar overhaul, now employing a portrait-oriented 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display seen on most modern Subaru models. The climate controls are now integrated to the bottom part of the screen, although you’ll still have access to physical temperature control buttons on both sides.

The parametric pattern and wood-like trim on the dashboard add a touch of pizzazz to its cabin, but the interior still remains characteristically utilitarian with hard plastics on key touchpoints, while the analogue instrumentation cluster and steering wheel will also feel immediately familiar to Subaru fans.

Interior highlights of the all-new 2025 Subaru Forester in Malaysia include:

Despite sharing the same Subaru Global Platform (SGP) chassis as its predecessor, Subaru says the all-new model has seen a 30% increase in torsional rigidity. The MacPherson struts and double wishbones suspensions has also been stiffened by some 10%, which along with a steering system inherited from the WRX, translates to a much improved driving experience.

Dimensions wise, the all-new model has grown by 15 mm in length (4,655 mm), and 15 mm in width (1,830 mm) – but both its height (1,730 mm) and wheelbase (2,670 mm) remain unchanged from before.

It’s also equipped with the latest EyeSight 4.0 ADAS system, which adds an additional monocular camera for a total of three to “significantly” expand its detection range, particularly for pedestrians and bicycles.

Inside, the all-new 2025 Subaru Forester also gains a driver monitoring system that enables a new Emergency Driving Stop System that will stop the car safely when it detects that the driver has become impaired during cruise control – after it attempts to regain driver attention by nudging the brakes.

Standard safety features include:

  • Autonomous emergency braking with pre-collision throttle management
  • Adaptive cruise control with lane centring and preceding vehicle adaptive steering control
  • Lane departure prevention
  • Reverse automatic braking
  • Autonomous emergency steering
