Chinese carmakers are known for packing plenty of value into their models, and Chery is a prime example. As its name suggests, the new Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH is the plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) variant to the D-segment seven-seater SUV, and surprisingly, it’s also priced from RM159,800 on the road without insurance — exactly the same as its purely petrol-powered version.
CSH stands for Chery Super Hybrid, and the “Super” in its name is certainly no exaggeration. With a full tank and battery, Chery claims the Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH can deliver a total driving range of up to 1,200 km.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) that houses an electric motor. Together, they produce a combined output of 279 hp (255 kW) and 365 Nm of torque, all sent to the front wheels.
The system is powered by an 18.3 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery that delivers up to 90 km of pure electric range. It supports 6.6 kW AC charging and 40 kW DC fast charging, the latter enabling a 30–80% top-up in just 19 minutes. The setup also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the car to supply up to 3.3 kW of power.
In terms of looks, it mostly matches its pure internal combustion engine (ICE) sibling. Notable changes to tell it apart include its larger front grille, new headlight designs, revised bumpers, dual tailpipes instead of quad tailpipes, and a new set of 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH features a modern cabin design typical of current Chinese SUVs, highlighted by a 15.6-inch tablet-style central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch letterbox-style digital instrument cluster — the former supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Notable interior features include a 50W wireless charger, a 10-speaker Sony sound system, double-glazed acoustic windows, and a cooled storage compartment within the front centre armrest.
Along with a 540-degree camera, the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH comes kitted with the marque’s full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which include features like adaptive cruise control (ACC) with integrated cruise control (ICC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), traffic jam assist (TJA), and driver fatigue monitoring system (DFS).
