The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has officially launched e-wallet payment services at its counters nationwide. The announcement was made today at an event held at the JPJ Galeria in Putrajaya.
The public can now use major e-wallets, including Maybank’s MAE, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, Boost, and GrabPay, to make payments for JPJ services. This new method joins the existing cashless payment options already available at all JPJ counters nationwide.
According to a speech by JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, the proposal to introduce e-wallet payments was first agreed upon on 29 December 2023. Following this, JPJ’s Revenue Management and Digital Technology divisions began developing the new function within the MySikap system.
The initiative for e-wallet payments was made possible through a partnership with Maybank, which provides the Electronic Data Capture (EDC) terminals and M-Device that support the e-wallet transactions. The nationwide rollout follows a successful pilot phase that was conducted at JPJ Kuala Lumpur in May 2024, which proved the system’s viability.

The full implementation was then carried out in stages across the country, beginning with the Klang Valley in September 2024 and expanding to all states, including Sarawak, by November 2024. This saw 1,183 units of EDC terminals and M-Device applications rolled out to JPJ counters nationwide to support e-wallet payments.
Concurrent with the rollout was a series of intensive training sessions for JPJ officers from February to March 2025, providing a comprehensive understanding of receipt procedures, reporting in the MySikap system, and transaction reviews in the Merchant Bank Report system.
According to JPJ, a total of 43.01 million cashless transactions were recorded in 2024 for its services, with a total of RM4.87 billion collected. Of that figure, 805 transactions were made via e-wallet payments at JPJ counters, amounting to a total collection of RM73,109.20.
As of 24 August 2025, JPJ has already recorded 46.5 million cashless transactions with a total of RM 5.6 billion collected. Transactions via e-wallet at the counter and through the MyJPJ application have surged to 245,626 transactions, with a total collection of RM19.6 million to date.
JPJ believes this implementation will continue to increase the number of cashless transactions at all counters starting today. This initiative not only simplifies customer transactions but also reduces dependency on cash, minimising financial security risks, and supports the government’s efforts to create a cashless work environment.
