Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and P.UP launch on-demand mobile EV charging service in Klang Valley

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has entered into a partnership with Power-Up (P.UP) by Nazamax Malaysia to introduce the new MB Platinum 5 plan, an on-demand mobile charging service for fully-electric (EV) Mercedes-Benz EQ owners.

Beginning as a pilot program in Penang back in September 2024, the service is now officially available in the Klang Valley, currently supported by three mobile charging vans equipped with chargers that can support DC charging up to 120 kW.

In the near future, the service will be expanded to Johor Bahru in Q1 2026 and across the rest of Peninsular Malaysia by the second half of 2026.

The MB Platinum 5 Plan offers five mobile charging sessions per month up to an 80% state-of-charge (SOC). Each session is bundled with a complimentary car hand wash, interior vacuuming, and tyre shine. The plan is available with a subscription period of one, six, or 12 months.

Also included in the plan is the coverage of free service fees and parking fees, up to RM5 per session. Customers can book the service via the P.UP mobile application, after which a mobile charging van will be dispatched to the customer’s vehicle location.

Speaking on the new service, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia & SEA II, Vice President of Customer Services, Edmin Naidoo said, “As we progress towards advancing electric mobility in Malaysia, we are committed to enhancing the overall ownership experience for our EV customers.”

“The collaboration with P.UP exemplifies our vision to provide not just cutting-edge vehicles, but also comprehensive service solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers, while contributing to the national EV goals of expanding charging accessibility. By introducing this mobile charging solution, we are making EV ownership more seamless and reducing barriers for customers wherever they are,” he added.

The launch of the MB Platinum 5 Plan sees Mercedes-Benz joining BMW Group Malaysia, which launched its own mobile charging service in 2023 in collaboration with Gentari’s EV Charge Go (EVCG) service. On BMW’s end, its service utilises Proton Exoras outfitted with a 30 kWh battery pack that serves as a mobile power bank, capable of providing DC charging at up to 30 kW.

P.UP is also offering a similar service for the BYD Atto 2 with the Sime Platinum 4+ package. This package includes a 12-month subscription, bundled with four mobile door-to-door charging sessions per month, two complimentary car hand washes, interior vacuuming, and tyre shine per month, and two free EV rescue services annually.
