Chery Corporate Malaysia has launched the Chery Premier Supply Chain Synergy Programme in partnership with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), with aims to boost the Malaysia’s automotive sector through fostering collaboration between 12 Chinese and 23 Malaysian suppliers.
The programme was launched last Friday at MIDA’s headquarters, which also saw the signing of four separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between Malaysian and Chinese entities, including:
- Wuhu Atech Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd and Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd.
- Cheling Smart Mobility Technology (Wuhu) Co., Ltd and Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd.
- Zhejiang Wanliyang Co., Ltd and Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
- Wuhu Qida Power Battery Systems Co., Ltd and Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
The programme, supported by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT institute (MARii) – is centred around the supply of automotive components, technology transfer, and joint investments in line with the country’s National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2020 goals of local vendor development, Chery says in a press release.
In a statement, MIDA Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, emphasised the programme’s support for MIDAs intentions in fostering collaboration between Malaysian vendors and Chery China. Along with strengthening local developments, the programme also supports the development of next-generation vehicles (NxGV) while incorporating Industry 4.0 practises, he said.
“By fostering these vital links, we envision a future rich with technology transfer, streamlined supply chains, and enhanced industrial capabilities, ultimately benefiting both Malaysia and Chery.” he added.

Executive Vice President of Chery Corporate Malaysia, Leo Chen, stated that the partnership reflects Chery’s commitment to localising its operations and strengthening Malaysia’s automotive supply chain. He emphasized the company’s goal of working closely with local suppliers to foster sustainable growth and contribute to the development of an inclusive and modern automotive industry.
“By creating a dynamic platform for cross-border synergy, we aim to ensure that suppliers from both Malaysia and China benefit mutually through the strategic exchange of knowledge and technology in automotive engineering and advanced manufacturing. This initiative represents our long-term vision to build an integrated, future-ready supply chain that drives mutual advancement and strengthens Malaysia’s position as a competitive and innovative automotive hub in the region,” he said.
The Chery Premier Supply Chain Synergy Programme will further strengthen the company’s Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park project, where it intends to transform 200 acres of land in the Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley into a high-value production hub for the region.
With plans to complete the mega project by 2026, RM 2.2 billion will be invested over the span of five years in hopes of reaching a scalable output of 300,000 vehicles per annum, in support of Malaysia’s goals of being a high-tech and sustainable industrial economy by 2030.
The new programme will lay a solid foundation for the local supply network and get their gears moving as Chery’s Smart Auto Industrial Park continues to develop.
