2025 Audi Q7 now open for ROI in Malaysia – Brand’s first CKD in SEA

PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) has announced that registrations of interest (ROI) for the 2025 Audi Q7 is now open, hinting at a launch very soon. Interested customers can head to the company’s official website to sign up for more info.

The ROI website shows only a single image of the 2025 Audi Q7’s silhouette in the background, depicting the current facelifted second-generation SUV as identified by the distinctive LED headlights and taillights. It has been confirmed previously by PHSAM managing director Denyu Bostandzhiev that the model will be locally assembled (CKD) in Malaysia, with a launch scheduled for May this year.

The 2025 Audi Q7 will not only be the first Audi CKD to be built at the brand’s facility in Pekan, Pahang, but will also be the first Audi model to be assembled in Southeast Asia.

Globally, the second-generation Audi Q7 facelift comes in a diverse range of variants with different engine choices. The first of which is a 55 TFSI quattro variant with a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine that’s good for 340 hp and 500 Nm, and there’s also the sportier SQ7 variant with a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 making 507 hp and 700 Nm of torque.

On the oil-burner side, the Audi Q7 is offered with a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine, making 231 hp and 500 Nm for the 45 TDI quattro variant, and 286 hp and 600 Nm for the 50 TDI quattro variant.

Excluding the beefier SQ7 variant, all updated 2025 second-generation Audi Q7 models will come equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system that is capable of pure electric operation at 55-160 km/h for up to 40 seconds. The full-time quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) system is standard across all variants, mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox.

While we don’t know yet which variant the company will be producing as a CKD model, we can tentatively assume that the 55 TFSI quattro variant, with its 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine, will likely be an option here, given that the engine configuration is also shared together with the CKD Volkswagen Touareg.

Both the second-generation Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg is also built on the same MLB Evo platform, which is also used in other SUV models from luxury brands higher up the totem pole such as the Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, and Lamborghini Urus.
