Good news – if you ordered an Omoda C9, you will be getting your shiny new car soon! Jaecoo Malaysia has announced the commencement of local production (CKD) of the Omoda C9 in Malaysia, with the first units already rolling off the factory floor. Production takes place at Chery’s Shah Alam plant, which is dedicated to producing Jaecoo models. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in 2025.
“We are very happy with the encouraging response for our C9 Premium Off-road SUV Coupé and ready to deliver on the Malaysian market’s demands. As a brand that is invested for the long term, we are equally dedicated to taking care of our customers throughout their ownership journey with us,” said Jaecoo Malaysia, Vice President, Emily Lek.
The Omoda C9 was launched last week and is the second CKD model to be launched by Jaecoo in Malaysia following the Jaecoo J7, which is also assembled at the same plant. The Omoda C9 is available in two variants: the Omoda C9 2WD, and the Omoda C9 AWD.
Prices for the new D-segment SUV start at RM168,800 for the 2WD variant and RM188,800 for the AWD variant. Prices are on-the-road without insurance, and include a seven-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty.
Powering the Omoda C9 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, making 257 hp and 400 Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This makes the Omoda C9 one of the most powerful SUVs in its price range.
