The Chery Omoda 5 has achieved a maximum 5-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries) crash test. The Omoda 5 managed an overall score of 88.64 points, and it is the first Chery model to be tested with the ASEAN NCAP standard.
The tests were conducted according to the program’s latest and more demanding ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol, in which it scored 36.77/40.00 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, 17.36/20.00 for Child Occupant Protection (COP), 19.51/20.00 for Safety Assist (SA), and 15.00/20.00 for Motorcyclist Safety (MS).
The Omoda 5 prioritizes safety with a comprehensive suite of features. Standard equipment includes 6 airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control, seatbelt reminders, and pedestrian protection technology. To enhance driver assistance, the model offers adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), automatic high beam, lane departure warning (LDW), blind spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist (LKA).
Upon its launch in Malaysia, the Chery Omoda 5 did not undergo the ASEAN NCAP crash test. However, it managed to achieve a 5-star EURO NCAP rating in 2022. The new ASEAN NCAP result of the Chery Omoda 5 reassures the car’s safety in light of recent issues.

Power-wise, the Chery Omoda 5 is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharger engine producing 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission. Size-wise, the Omoda 5 is 4,400 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, 1,588 mm in height, with a 2,630 mm wheelbase.
In Malaysia, the Chery Omoda 5 is offered in two variants namely the C variant and the H variant. It is priced from RM108,800 to RM118,800. Included in the price is a 7-year standard manufacturer’s warranty, and 5 years of free service.
