2024 Porsche Macan EV gains 2 new variants, now open for booking in Malaysia from RM430k

The second-generation Porsche Macan, which was first unveiled globally in January this year as a fully electric model, has now gained two new variants in the form of the base Macan, and the Macan 4S. The two new variants will join the existing Macan 4 and Macan Turbo in the line-up.

Like the latter two, which were previewed locally during the 2024 Porsche World Road Show, the new Porsche Macan and Macan 4S are also now available for booking in Malaysia, with deliveries expected to begin by the end of 2024. The full variant line-up of the 2024 Porsche Macan in Malaysia is priced as follows:

  • Macan: RM 430,000
  • Macan 4: RM 445,000
  • Macan 4S: RM 525,000
  • Macan Turbo: RM 635,000

The base Porsche Macan is powered by the same 100 kWh (95 kWh usable) NMC battery pack as you’d find in all three other variants. Paired to a single motor on the rear axle, the entry-level model boast a maximum output of 340 hp (250 kW), or 360 hp (265 kW) and 563 Nm in Overboost mode, accessible during Launch Control.

In performance terms, that’s 0-100 km/h completed in 5.7 seconds, onward to a top speed of 220 km/h. Without the additional motor in front, the base Porsche Macan is also 110 kg lighter than the Macan 4, thus contributing to a higher range of 641 km (WLTP).

As for the all-new Porsche Macan 4S, which will slot in between the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, it gets a more powerful rear-axle motor, alongside the same front motor as the Macan 4 and the Turbo, for a combined output of 448 hp (330 kW), or 516 hp (380 kW) and 820 Nm on temporary Overboost.

That translates to a century sprint time of under 4.1 seconds, onward to a top speed of 240 km/h. Because of its heavier all-wheel drive setup, however, its range is lower at 606 km (WLTP).

For comparison, here are the specifications of the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo:

  • Macan 4
    • Max output: 387 hp (285 kW); 408 hp (300 kW) and 650 Nm with overboost
    • Drivetrain: twin-motor, all-wheel drive
    • 0-100 km/h: 5.2 seconds
    • Top speed: 220 km/h
    • Battery: 100 kWh, 95 kWh usable
    • Range: 613 km (WLTP)
  • Macan Turbo
    • Max output: 584 hp (430 kW), 639 hp (470 kW) and 1,130 Nm with overboost
    • Drivetrain: twin-motor, all-wheel drive
    • 0-100 km/h: 3.3 seconds
    • Top speed: 260 km/h
    • Battery: 100 kWh, 95 kWh usable
    • Range: 591 km (WLTP)

Both new additions share the same charging performance of up to 270 kW on DC, identical to the two other existing variants, courtesy of the 800V electric architecture of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform.

The Macan 4S, being the more premium variant, does come with additional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adaptive dampers as standard. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), rear-axle steering, and height-adjustable air suspension are also available as options on the Macan 4S.

For the Malaysian market, the Porsche Macan is also available to order with optional equipment including Power Steering Plus, electrically-opening charging covers, four-zone climate control, a 230V power outlet in the luggage compartment, and a premium Bose surround sound system.

In conjunction with the launch of the new variants, Porsche is now offering a new Slate Grey Neo exterior paint job that will be available across all variants. A new “off-road design package” is also now available on offer for all variants, which includes a more off-road-focused front bumper that increases the approach angle to up to 17.4 degrees (depending on variant), alongside a set of 21-inch off-road design wheels.

Cars with the adaptive air suspension will also gain an additional 10 mm in ground clearance with the package, to 195 mm at the normal setting. The package is available in two colours, Vesuvius Grey or in body colour, with the side skirts, diffuser panels, and roof railings similarly painted in the same selection.
