Here are Malaysia’s Top 10 best-selling cars in H1 2024 – Bezza, City, and Hilux lead segments


Based on the public sector open data shared by the Malaysian government, we’ve gathered the top 10 best-selling cars in Malaysia for the first half of 2024. And while the top contenders in this list aren’t really a surprise, it is interesting to see how they stand against one another in the Malaysian market.

Here’s how the rankings stand according to data from the Malaysian government:

  1. Perodua Bezza – 47,100 units
  2. Perodua Axia – 42,900 units
  3. Perodua Myvi – 34,688 units
  4. Proton Saga – 34,035 units
  5. Perodua Alza – 20,476 units
  6. Perodua Ativa – 17,741 units
  7. Honda City – 12,815 units
  8. Toyota Vios – 12,513 units
  9. Toyota Hilux – 11,540 units
  10. Honda HR-V – 10,803 units

Being the producer of the the nation’s affordable cars, it is no surprise that 5 Perodua models have made it to the top-10 list with the compact saloon Bezza at the very top. Other Perodua models in the list are the Axia with 42,900 units, the Myvi with 34,688 units, the Alza with 20,476 units, and the Ativa with 17,741 units.

As for local carmaker Proton, its best-selling car, the Proton Saga is currently 4th in the year-to-date sales ranking with 34,035 units registered. In the A-segment saloon category, it is presently seconds behind the Perodua Bezza.

Other placers in the top-10 ranking are the Honda City with 12,815 units, the Toyota Vios with 12,513 units, the Toyota Hilux with 11,540 units, and the Honda HR-V with 10,803 units. Safe to say, the Toyota Hilux and Honda HR-V are currently leading their respective segments.

Looking at the data for car registration in June 2024 alone, the top 10 car rankings for the month in Malaysia are somewhat similar, albeit with some minor shifts. The vehicle registration numbers for the month of June are as such (for the vehicles from the year-to-date top 10):

  1. Perodua Bezza – 6,410 units
  2. Proton Saga – 5,425 units
  3. Perodua Axia – 5,405 units
  4. Perodua Myvi – 4,772 units
  5. Perodua Ativa – 3,078 units
  6. Perodua Alza – 2,697 units
  7. Honda City – 2,661 units
  8. Toyota Vios – 2,161 units
  9. Toyota Hilux – 1,793 units
  10. Honda HR-V – 1,445 units
