Geely has just put out a teaser for its soon-to-debut facelifted Geely Emgrand sedan on its Chinese social media pages. At first glance, you might not be able to tell this is a new model, and we won’t blame you, as the changes made here are rather minor. It is expected to make its debut later this month. The outgoing model is currently sold in markets such as the Philippines as well as its home market, China.
On the outside, the Geely Emgrand facelift looks pretty much similar to the outgoing model. The minor changes made here include the redesigned front grille that features more prominent-looking vertical chrome slats, with a new silver Geely logo slapped on it. There are also new faux lower intakes on the corners with L-shaped chrome trims, and a new set of wheels, giving the car a more muscular appearance.

Speaking of its wheels, a total of five wheel design options is expected to be offered with the facelifted Geely Emgrand, based on a filing released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The sizes of these wheels will range from 15 to 17 inches.
The MIIT filing also revealed the same engine and power output as the outgoing Geely Emgrand. This means the facelifted sedan will continue to be powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine, coupled with either a CVT or a 5-speed manual gearbox. Looking at the specifications of the outgoing Emgrand, this setup sends a total of 93 kW (126 metric hp) and 152 Nm to the front wheels only.

Although Geely has yet to reveal any official images of the facelifted Emgrand’s interior, there are already photos of it being shared online, including photos taken from Geely showrooms in China. From the said photos, it looks like the new Emgrand will also look practically the same as its outgoing self on the inside.
The only significant change made here is the new silver Geely logo on the steering wheel. Existing features such as the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment head unit and the 540° panoramic camera system are expected to be carried over.

It is no secret at all that the Proton S70 is a rebadged version of the Geely Emgrand, albeit on steroids. Unlike the latter, the S70 is fitted with the much more powerful 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder MPI engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), resulting in a total output of 150 hp (metric) and 226 Nm.
However, just in case you couldn’t remember, the Proton S70 has only been launched for less than 7 months. So no, it shouldn’t be receiving a facelift or update anytime soon.
