Following its preview in Malaysia last month, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has now announced the official pricing information for the CLE300 4Matic coupe, which will retail from RM518,888, on-the-road, without insurance. – a respectable RM7K lower than initially estimated.
For that price, you’ll find a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine underneath the bonnet with 258 hp and 400 Nm on offer. The engine is mated to a 48V Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) unit that provides an additional 23 hp and 205 Nm of temporary boost, and with power sent to all four wheels via 4Matic all-wheel drive system and the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, the CLE300 4Matic completes the century sprint in 6.2 seconds, onward to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.
Designed as a replacement for both the C-Class and E-Class coupes, the brand-new Mercedes-Benz CLE is a sculpted two-door coupe, boasting an elegant silhouette which the brand says is shaped by their “Sensual Purity” design philosophy. It borrows heavily from Mercedes’ other models in the stable in terms of design inspirations, particularly on the front end, but its proportions are pretty much unique, coming in even longer and lower than the outgoing E-Class coupe, giving it a truly sporty appearance.
In terms of equipment, the Mercedes-Benz CLE300 4Matic in Malaysia will come as standard with the AMG Line exterior package, Digital Light headlights, blacked out trims courtesy of the Night package, rear-wheel steering (up to 2.5 degrees), and the 19-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels.
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz CLE coupe shares many similarities with the C-Class’ cabin, lined with carbon-fibre look veneer on the dashboard, and paired to “nappa look” Artico faux-leather upholstery.
Standard equipment on the Mercedes-Benz CLE300 4Matic in Malaysia include the MBUX dual displays measuring 12.3-inch for the instrument cluster and 11.9-inch for the vertical centre infotainment display, a head-up display, the AMG sports steering wheel lined with Nappa leather, multicontour sports seats with seat ventilation, heating, and four-way electro-pneumatic lumbar support adjustments, two-zone automatic climate control, 17-speaker Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos surround sound, and Easy-Access entry for the rear seats.
