2024 BMW iX updated in Malaysia, from RM499k – xDrive40 dropped, 22kW AC charging as standard



The BMW iX has just received an update in Malaysia and is now available in two variants, the iX xDrive50 Sport and the iX M60, while the entry-level iX xDrive40 and xDrive40 Sport variants have been dropped. Price-wise, the BMW iX xDrive50 Sport can be yours at RM499,000, while the iX M60 is priced at RM613,000. Both prices have been reduced by RM62,630 and RM32,630 respectively over the previous model.

Both prices listed above are on the road, without insurance, and are inclusive of the optional BMW Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI) that costs RM33,200. The optional package gets you a 5-year extended warranty coverage instead of the standard 2-year warranty package, along with a six-year service package.

2024 BMW iX M60

Changes made unto the updated BMW iX in Malaysia include the on-board AC Type 2 charger with the iX xDrive50 Sport that can now handle 22 kW of AC charging, allowing the car to be charged from flat to full in 5 hours and 30 minutes. Already available with the iX M60, charging using the 22 kW charger is significantly faster than the 11 kW unit which does the same longer at 11 hours.

This charger was already included with the higher-end BMW iX M60. The BMW iX continues to support DC charging at a maximum rate of 195 kW, allowing the battery to be juiced up from 0 to 80% in just 35 minutes. Another kit that has been added to the BMW iX xDrive50 Sport in Malaysia is the Two-axle air suspension, which the M60 already comes with.

Powering the BMW iX duo in Malaysia is the dual-motor all-wheel drive setup that is unchanged from before. The iX xDrive50 Sport makes 523 hp (metric) and 765 Nm, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds thanks to Launch Control and achieve a top speed of 200 km/h.

The iX M60 on the other hand puts out 619 hp (mnetric) and 1,015 Nm. Upon activating launch control, the iX M60’s torque output can be raised to a whopping 1,100 Nm, allowing the car to perform the century sprint in just 3.8 seconds. Range-wise, both the Malaysian-spec BMW iX xDrive50 Sport and iX M60 can travel as far as 630 km (WLTP) and 561 km (WLTP) respectively.

2024 BMW iX xDrive50 Sport

Moving inside, the BMW iX in Malaysia is available with the brand’s Interior Design Atelier in either Mocha or Black, along with Senartec accents on the central console and armrest. The iX M60 also gets Gold Bronze accent colours. Shelling out an extra RM17,300 will get you the optional Interior Design Suite in Amido or Castanea.

Additionally, the updated BMW iX in Malaysia also gets the Digital Key Plus feature which allows customers to unlock their iX SUV using a compatible iPhone or Android smartphone. The digital key can be shared with up to dve compatible devices too.

Other equipment included with the BMW iX in Malaysia include a Qi wireless charging pad, a 4-zone automatic air conditioning, and an 18-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.

2024 BMW iX xDrive50 Sport

On the safety side of things, the Parking Assistant Professional, which was only available with the iX M60 previously has now trickled down to the iX xDrive50 Sport too. This provides the car with added assisted parallel and perpendicular parking capabilities, along with Manoeuvering Assistant features on top of the Parking Assistant Plus.

Aside from the added features, certain kits have been removed from the BMW iX in Malaysia. This includes features like laser light headlamps and gesture control. The iX xDrive50 Sport loses out on the Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, the Clear & Bold interior trims, and the M Exterior Line Titanium Bronze trim. The Bower & Wilkins sound system has also been dropped from the iX M60 and has been replaced with the Harman Kardon sound system.
