Chery opens new 4S centre in Kuantan, first facility in the East Coast

Chery Malaysia, together with its dealer partner Evenergy Auto, has opened the doors to the latest Chery 4S centre located in Kuantan, Pahang, the marque’s first and largest facility in the East Coast.

Located at Kawasan Perindustrian Semambu in Kuantan, the new Chery Kuantan 4S centre will serve the collective populations of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan, offering sales, service, as well as body and paint facilities.

During the opening ceremony of the new 4S centre, Chery also took the opportunity to preview the upcoming Omoda E5 EV to customers in the East Coast ahead of its official launch next year – the first of such preview in a showroom.

The Chery Omoda E5, first previewed in a media event last week, is set to make its official debut in March 2024 – making Malaysia one of the earliest right-hand-drive markets to receive the fully-electric SUV. It will be offered in a single variant, powered by a single motor on the front axle serving up 224 hp and 340 Nm, translating to a 0-100 km/h sprint in under 7.6 seconds.

Set to rival the BYD Atto 3 Extended Range, the Chery Omoda E5 will boasts up to 430 km of range (WLTP) from a 61 kWh battery pack. An on-board AC charger supports up to 9.9 kW, while DC fast charging reaches up to 80 kW, for a 0-80% charge in under 35 minutes.

Like the BYD, the Omoda E5 will also support vehicle-to-load functionality, with up to 3.3 kW of output using an adapter on the exterior charging port. For the full details and photos of the upcoming Chery Omoda E5, check out our earlier coverage here.
