Neta to launch 2 new cars in Malaysia in 2024, 1 new car in 2025 – CKD by NEXV Manufacturing

During the official launch of the Neta V in Malaysia today, Neta Malaysia also revealed that it will be launching a few more cars in the next few years, which will “not be subject to the RM100,000 minimum price” rule as they will be CKD models. It was also announced that NEXV Manufacturing (a JV between Go Auto Group and Careplus Group Berhad) has been granted an EV manufacturing license by MITI.

Specifically, Go Auto Group plans to launch 2 new Neta models in 2024 and 1 new Neta model in 2025. With Go Auto hinting at them “not being subject to the RM100,000 price rule”, it implies that they will be locally assembled (CKD) models. One model that we know for sure is planned for Malaysia is the Neta S.

In his speech during the launch today, Go Auto Group Executive Chairman, Dato’ SM Asli SM Nasimudin revealed that its subsidiary company had received its manufacturing license (ML) to manufacture and assemble EEVs, electric passenger vehicles, electric commercial vehicles and electric motorcycles to cater for the local and regional markets.

The ML is a green light for the group to further expand its operations at a larger scale. Previously, the group had already started business with commercial electric vehicles, and through its recent partnership with the NETA brand, this paves the way for more localisation and market expansion through a facility that is currently being planned in Negeri Sembilan.

The confirmation was given to NEXV Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd on 24th October 2023 by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) through its agency, Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

Dato’ SM Azli SM Nasimuddin Kamal said, “I would like to thank the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, as well as its agencies MIDA (Malaysia Investment Development Authority), MARii (Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IOT Institute) for this great recognition of trust to the NEXV Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. We will take this trust to heart and are committed to producing local EV products of world standards, and most importantly creating new opportunities within the Malaysian business ecosystem sustainably”
