Next-gen BMW X2 teased with illuminated grille – To debut soon with the all-electric iX2?

BMW has just dropped a teaser video on its social media pages for what is presumably the upcoming all-new BMW X2, with captions suggesting that the new SUV will be coming soon.

Despite the shadowy teaser video, we are still able to see a silhouette of the upcoming all-new BMW X2’s coupe side profile, which like the outgoing model features a sloping roofline, giving it a coupe look. There is also a subtle-looking spoiler that adds to the coupe SUV’s sporty character.

As the car rotates to show us its front end, it can be seen wearing the brand’s new X-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) design. Even more eye-catching is the upcoming BMW X2’s illuminated radiator grille, which appears to sport a slightly different frame to its regularly-shaped counterpart, the BMW X1. Instead, it looks closer to that of the X6 facelift, just with slightly different proportions.

The upcoming second-generation BMW X2 will be built on BMW’s FAAR platform, which also underpins its siblings such as the X1 and 2 Series Gran Coupe. In terms of powertrain, we can also expect a similar selection of turbocharged petrol engines, all with some form of electrification included.

A fully-electric iX2 version is also expected, and should also feature a similar powertrain line-up to the iX1, including a single motor eDrive20 variant with 204 hp, as well as the xDrive30 dual-motor set-up, boasting 313 hp. The fully-electric iX2 will be built at the Regensburg plant starting at the end of this year, alongside the iX1.
