Credit, debit cards now accepted at GCE & AKLEH toll plazas – For open payment system trial

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Works (KKR) laid out a plan to launch the open payment system by this month (September). The system is said to be implemented by various highway operators, and one of the operators – Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (PROLINTAS) has started conducting pilot tests for the system at its Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) and Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH) toll booths.

Just in case you didn’t know, the open payment system essentially gives highway users additional options in making toll payments using credit and debit cards. These options are added on top of the usual Touch ‘n Go, SmartTag, and radio frequency identification (MyRFID) methods.

Among the toll booths managed by PROLINTAS that are now accepting the open payment system include:

  • Bukit Jelutong, GCE Toll Plaza
  • Elmina, GCE Toll Plaza
  • Lagong, GCE Toll Plaza
  • Datuk Keramat, AKLEH Toll Plaza

Currently, the system for the three GCE toll booths mentioned above has been made available for all users of Class 1 vehicles (cars) since September 13, 2023. As for the Datuk Kermat, AKLEH Toll Plaza, the system has been live since September 9, 2023. As mentioned above, both credit and debit cards are accepted at a dedicated lane with a new signboard at the gantry.

“This initiative is here to provide convenience and flexibility for highway users at the toll plazas with more choices of payment methods, and also contribute to improving the nation’s highway industry as a whole”, said PROLINTAS Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah.

Since last month, the open payment system has been implemented on a number of highways. This includes the Maju Expressway (MEX), LDP, SPRINT, the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), the SMART tunnel, Sungai Besi Expressway (BESRAYA), New Pantai Expressway (NPE), and DUKE (Duta-Ulu Kelang highway).
