2023 Subaru Forester prices reduced by RM10k, now from RM164k – Specs unchanged

Motor Image Malaysia, Subaru’s official distributor in Malaysia has given the 2023 Subaru Forester facelift’s price tag an update, with a RM10,000 price reduction throughout the entire range. The price reduction has been in effect since August 16, 2023.

This translates into the 2023 Subaru Forester 2.0i-L EyeSight now costing RM164,288, while the GT Lite Edition EyeSight variant now costs RM170,288. Moving up, the asking price for the 2.0i-S EyeSight variant is now RM174,288, leaving the GT Edition EyeSight topping the lineup with a price tag of RM186,288. All these prices are for Peninsular Malaysia, and are on-the-road, without insurance. Also included with the price tags is a 5-year/100,000 km manufacturer warranty.

The optional Subaru Connex telematics system is still available at an unchanged price of RM1,900 and comes with one year of connectivity. Beyond the one-year period, the cellular data for the telematics system will require a RM360/year subscription.

Despite the price reduction, kits included with the 2023 Subaru Forester remain unchanged from before. On the outside, the facelifted SUV features a redesigned front fascia with Levorg-inspired headlights, along with reworked bumpers at the front and back.

The L and GT Line variants are fitted with 17-inch alloys, while the higher-end S and GT Edition variants get 18-inch alloys. Inside, the 2023 Subaru Forester facelift sports an interior that is largely similar to its pre-facelift self, albeit with new quilted black leather upholstery on the S and GT Edition variants.

Powering the 2023 Subaru Forester facelift across the range is a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder Boxer engine that puts out 156 hp and 196 Nm. Paired to the brand’s Lineartronic CVT, power is sent to all four wheels via a symmetrical all-wheel drive system, with both the S and GT Edition variants getting Subaru’s Dual X-mode too.

As their variant names suggest, Subaru’s EyeSight 4.0 ADAS suite is fitted as standard across the 2023 Subaru Forester range and supports Level 2 autonomous driving. This includes safety features such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure prevention (LDP), lane centring control with preceding vehicle adaptive steering control, pre-collision throttle management, and lead vehicle start alert. On top of this, the S and GT Edition variants also get autonomous emergency steering.
