Subaru has released teaser images of its upcoming Subaru Levorg Layback, an adventurous version of the Subaru Levorg/WRX Wagon that some of us may have seen on Malaysian roads. Specially developed for the Japanese market only, customers may order the Subaru Levorg Layback starting September 7, 2023.
As for the variant name of Levorg Layback, it is simply derived from the term “laid back”, so let’s hope the driving or ownership experience will reflect that. If anything, the Levorg Layback looks like a smaller version of the Subaru Outback.
Only shown through heavily shadowed images for the time being, we can see the variant-specific grille of the Levorg Layback. Subaru has also teased the Layback’s wheel design, seat upholstery, as well as its unpainted plastic claddings. The signature Subaru eyesight cameras can also be seen clearly in the teaser images.
In Malaysia, the Subaru Levorg is sold as the Subaru WRX Wagon which is sold alongside the WRX sedan. The Subaru WRX Wagon GT-S Eyesight in Malaysia fetches a price of RM285,245.

The Subaru Levorg/WRX Wagon is powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that outputs 275 hp (metric) and 350 Nm. The engine is paired with a CVT and power is transmitted to all wheels via the brand’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. 0-100 km/h is achieved in 6.1 seconds onward to a maximum top speed of 215 km/h.
As for the Levorg Layback, do expect the ride height to be a little higher together with a new wheel and suspension setup. Powertrain details will most likely be retained, albeit with different acceleration and top speed.

The Subaru Levorg Layback will be offered exclusively for the Japanese market. Japanese customers may make their pre-orders starting September 7, 2023.
