Chery meets with Malaysia Government to discuss local investment plans, brand launch in Q2 2023

In addition to meeting with Geely, the recent Malaysia entourage to China – led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim – also held a meeting with Chery International for an in-depth discussion on the company’s investment into Malaysia.

The meeting between the Minister of International Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and executives from Chery International touched on the company’s investment and development plans in Malaysia. According to a press release from the latter, the minister has “showed great interest” in the proposals, recognising Chery’s international corporate strength.

Following the meeting, Chery International was also invited to a round table conference between the Malaysian entourage and various Chinese industry leaders, ahead of the Malaysia-China Business Forum on April 1.

During his keynote speech for the Malaysia-China Business Forum, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the country has secured a record RM170 billion worth of investment commitments from China, from a total of 19 memoranda of understanding (MoU) signed between businesses in China and Malaysia.
