Lotus Eletre ROI open for Malaysia – est. RM630k, 0-100km/h in 2.95 seconds

A new premium electric vehicle (EV) is about to enter Malaysia, and it is the Lotus Eletre with its registration of interest (ROI) now open for the country. Its specifications have yet to be confirmed, but the Eletre hyper SUV is estimated to cost RM630,000.

The Eletre was first unveiled to the world in March 2022, with all of its details released in October 2022. It is the brand’s first SUV and in Europe and the United Kingdom, it is available in three variants to choose from – The Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R. In the ROI brochure for the Lotus Eletre R in Malaysia, a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 2.95 seconds is listed, hinting at the range-topping Eletre R being available.

In its range-topping guise, the Lotus Eletre R gets a dual motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup that makes 905 hp and 985 Nm. The electric drive system is paired with a two-speed gearbox, resulting in a blistering 2.95-second century sprint time.

In its mid- and low-tier variants, the Eletre S and Eletre are also powered by a dual-motor AWD system, albeit with a lower maximum power and torque output. Both the Eletre S and Eletre make 603 hp and 710 Nm. Unlike the Eletre R, the lower-tier variants both get a single-speed gearbox, resulting in a 4.5-second century sprint time.

All versions of the Lotus Eletre house a 112-kWh battery that gives 600 km of range (WLTP) for the Eletre S and Eletre. The range-topping Eletre R only manages 490 km of range on the WLTP test cycle. No specifics have been listed on the electric charging rates. However, Lotus does state that the 112-kWh battery takes 20 minutes to charge from 10% state-of-charge (SOC) to 80% with DC fast charging.

Size-wise, the Eletre is bigger than the BMW iX, measuring 5,103 mm in length, 2,231 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height. The wheelbase is 3,019 mm long, also longer than the iX. Malaysian customers interested in the Lotus Eletre can register their interest on Lotus Malaysia’s official website.
