Next-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214 interior revealed – Superscreen debuts with in-car TikTok app

Ahead of its full unveiling, Mercedes-Benz has revealed the interior of the next-gen Mercedes Benz E-Class (W214), debuting a new ‘Superscreen’, in succession to the Hyperscreen that debuted on the EQS. Previously, leaked images have shown a lower-tier interior of the W214 without the Superscreen. The official images released show a range-topping version of the cabin.

From the pictures released by Mercedes-Benz, it can be seen that the Superscreen is like a partial version of the Hyperscreen, where the digital instrument cluster is still a floating screen as you would find in the W206 C-Class. There is also a camera perched at the centre top that functions as a selfie/video camera that allows the driver to participate in video conference calls and take personal photos/videos when the vehicle is stationary.

You will also notice that the W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class doesn’t have the “turbine” air conditioning vents. Generally, the W214’s interior combines the interior of the W206 C-Class and the interior of EQS and EQE. Unlike the EQ sedans, the dashboard and door panels show no change in elevation.

The next-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214 also debuts a “Motion sickness prevention programme” in the “Energizing Comfort” programme. A “bio‑feedback function” is planned for the “Energizing Coach” in the medium term. This can reduce the feeling of stress with breathing exercises.

Like current Mercedes-Benz cars, the next-gen W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class boasts active ambient lighting that runs across the width of the cabin. The ambient lighting can be made to beat in sync with music played in the car and works in tandem with the Burmester 4D surround sound system to provide a multi-dimensional sound experience that is not only audible but also “feelable”.

As for interior colours, customers can choose from an array of options that include light beige combined with space grey, including a classy pearl effect, to the sophisticated, cinnamon-coloured tonka brown and the cool and technical-looking grey.

In terms of software applications/mobile apps, the next-gen Mercedes E-Class W214 will also have several new in car apps that can be downloaded from the Mercedes me Store. The new in-car apps include Tiktok, Angry Birds, Webex, Zoom, and Vivaldi.

With the reveal of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214’s interior, the E-Class launch will start with the Saloon model. The first models of the 214 series will arrive at European dealerships in summer 2023. In the USA, the market launch will take place in autumn 2023.
