2022 BMW Z4 updated in Malaysia with mild facelift, Adaptive M suspension – RM508,800

BMW Malaysia has just launched a new update to the BMW Z4, bringing along a mild facelift, alongside new standard equipment to the roadster. The new 2022 BMW Z4 will be available in a single variant here in Malaysia, the sDrive30i M Sport, priced at RM508,800 on-the-road, without insurance.

When we say “mild”, we really do mean it, as most people would probably miss it unless you know where to look. New on the 2022 BMW Z4 is a hexagonal mesh insert for the front grille, alongside the slightly reworked side air intakes on the M Sport bumper, Shadowline chrome delete on the exterior, and… that’s really about it.

You do at least get a few new exterior colour choices – Skyscraper Grey, Portimao Blue, and the unique Thundernight Metallic (pictured) from the 2 Series Coupe, alongside a new set of 19-inch double-spoke style M light alloy wheels which are standard for the BMW Z4 here in Malaysia.

It’s a similar story inside, with the only change being the new Aluminium Mesheffect trims. Everything else, including the M Sport steering wheel and seats, are all still inherited from the pre-facelift model. The displays are also unchanged from before, and still runs on the existing Live Cockpit Professional system instead of the Curved Display’s iDrive 8.0.

The new BMW Z4 will only be offered in the sDrive30i guise here in Malaysia, powered by an unchanged B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 258 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The four-banger is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, supplying power to the rear wheels for a 0-100 km/h sprint of 5.4 seconds, onward to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Adaptive M suspensions are also now fitted as standard on the BMW Z4, allowing the driver to further fine tune the roadster’s driving dynamics to their preferences.

As mentioned above, the new 2022 BMW Z4 sDrive30i M Sport in Malaysia is priced at RM508,800 on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of the five-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service programme.

The company is also offering the Z4 via the Straight Line Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, with a monthly instalment plan starting from RM6,023 based on estimates of an 80% loan on a seven-year tenure.
