Video: 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 RS unleashed at Silverstone Circuit

We automotive jornos are a lucky bunch, because we frequently get to see and play with some of the most exotic cars out there. But with that being said, nobody is as lucky as GC Mah. Not only was he one of the first few in the world to sample the all-new 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but he was even invited to do it on the Silverstone Circuit in the UK.

Jealousy cannot even begin to describe what the rest of us are feeling.

Silverstone was the perfect location for the test, because the GT3 RS was designed specifically to dominate racetracks like these with aerodynamics straight out of a Formula 1 car – quite literally, as the humongous rear wing even comes with DRS (drag reduction system) to help increase top speed on the straights, just like F1.

And that’s not all. The adjustable flaps under the nose can rotate by up to 80 degrees to either increase or decrease the downforce on the front end, and even the suspension parts also serve an aerodynamic purpose. The whole list of aero devices is enough for a PhD thesis, so check out our launch coverage (here) for a more detailed breakdown.

In addition to the insane aerodynamics, the all-new 911 GT3 RS also gets the most powerful normally-aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine ever featured in a Porsche, revving up to 9,000 rpm making 525 hp – 50 more horses than the regular GT3. Paired to a seven-speed PDK gearbox, the 2022 Porsche GT3 RS reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.2 seconds, onward to a top speed of 296 km/h.

GC probably won’t be forgetting about this experience for the rest of his life. And luckily for us, we also get to share the joy with him (but yes, we’re still jealous). Check out the video above to feel his excitement.
