Porsche brings Cars’ Sally Carrera to life with new 911 ‘Sally Special’ one-off

Porsche has breathed life into the Sally Carrera character from Pixar’s ‘Cars’, and we unironically love it. Dubbed the ‘911 Sally Special’, the one-off model sees a 911 Carrera GTS adorned with unique touches from the movie star.

In order to bring Sally Carrera to life, Porsche worked directly with the members of the original Cars team – including Bob Pauley, the Production Designer who first drew Sally Carrera – to reimagine the character on a modern 911.

The result, after nine months of work, is a unique one-off finished in a custom Sallybluemetallic colour, complete with the cheeky tattoo hidden underneath the rear spoiler. Porsche says the paint job had to be done completely by hand, as it covers virtually all exterior surfaces – even those parts that are usually black on a standard factory-spec 911.

Since Sally Carrera was based on the 996-generation 911, Porsche has added a few unique touches to make it at least a little bit period-correct, including silver surrounds around the headlights, as well as rear badging, and unique five-spoke wheels that mimic those of Sally Carrera’s (and the 911s of her era).

Like its exterior, the Sally Special’s cabin also gets a range of bespoke touches, including the trim pieces finished in the same Sallybluemetallic colour, plus the pretty Chalk leather seats with Speed Blue and Chalk cross stitching and Pepita houndstooth inserts – the latter featuring a black, Chalk, and Speed Blue colour combination.

You’ll notice the same colour combination used on pretty much everything else on the inside, including the dashboard itself, alongside the steering wheel’s centre marker, and the manual transmission gear knob.

The Sport Response drive-mode selector on the steering wheel also get an adorable “Kachow Mode” marking, while the “Sally Special” wordmarks on the dashboard and illuminated door sills remind you of the car’s special nature.

The Porsche 911 Sally Special one-off will be auctioned on RM Sotheby this Saturday as part of the Monterey Car Week, with proceeds going to two charities – Girls Inc, which supports young women, and UNHCR, an organisation that supports refugees from Ukraine currently affected by the war.

In addition to the car, the successful bidder will also receive a unique chronograph watch co-created with Pixar, featuring the Sallybluemetallic hue on the coloured ring, alongside a bespoke a book on the development and production of the one-off model, plus original drawings by designers Shuichi Yamashita and Bob Pauley.
