1 week toll exemption at Malaysia/Singapore borders from 1st of April

For those of you who are unaware, the land borders between Johor and Singapore are set to reopen on the 1st of April 2022, and fully vaccinated individuals can now travel between Malaysia and Singapore without going through quarantine or Covid tests before or after their journey.

With that, the government has also announced that there’ll be a one-week toll exemption for Malaysians, in all types of vehicles, entering or returning from Singapore, at the Sultan Abu Bakar and the Sultan Iskandar Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) checkpoints.

The one week toll exemption was to ensure smooth traffic.

The decision for this was to ensure smooth traffic at both the toll plazas after the reopening of the land borders. According to a report by Malay Mail, Plus Malaysia estimates that at least 42,000 vehicles will enter/exit Malaysia daily at the borders once the land borders reopen.

Singaporean-registered vehicles entering Malaysia via both the entry points at the Sultan Abu Bakar and Sultan Iskandar checkpoints will also be exempted from the road charge.

The government also urged cross-border public transportion services between both countries to start preparing for services to resume, including renewing all relevant permits and licenses, with the relevant authorities.
