Special edition Mercedes-AMG G63 celebrates 55 years of AMG



After confirming that the first fully-electric G-Class, the EQG, will go into production in 2024, Mercedes-Benz has revealed the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55” in celebration of 55 years of AMG.

“From a two-man start-up in 1967 to a state-of-the-art development site including its own engine manufacturing facility for high-performance vehicles and more than 2000 qualified employees in 2022 – the success story of Mercedes‑AMG over the past 55 years is simply impressive,” said Mercedes-AMG, Chairman, Philipp Schiemer.

The “Edition 55” G 63 is available either in Obsidian Black Metallic or Opalite White Bright paint, complemented with decals of the AMG emblem on the sides. The forged wheels are 22-inch in size, in Matt Tantalum Grey. The exterior is also specified with the AMG Night Package for high gloss black trims on the door lining, front and rear bumper.

The interior is predominantly red and black, with “Edition 55” wovened onto the carpets. The AMG Performance steering wheel, just like the one in the AMG GTR, is wrapped in Dinamica microfibre also commemorates the anniversary with the “AMG” and “55” badges. Furnished with AMG seats upholster in Nappa leather, the rest of the interior is decorated with matte carbon fibre trims.

Under the square bulges of the front end is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 monster with 585 hp and 850 nm, to drive all four wheels. 0 to 100 km/h only takes 4.5 seconds.
