Facts & Figures: Fully electric Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 launched in Malaysia, from RM278k

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the fully-electric EQA – available in a single variant, the EQA 250 – starting from RM 278,201. The EQA is fully imported from Germany. Compared to the CKD Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 AMG Line, the EQA 250 costs just RM7k more.

The EQA 250 comes with a 4-year unlimited mileage warranty while the batteries comes with an 8-year/160,000 km warranty.

The first 1,000 owners of the EQA will receive a 1-year subscription with JomCharge, for unlimited charging at 50% discount at all JomCharge stations. JomCharge will also have 13 new DC fast chargers installed in strategic dealer locations this year where EQ customers can use at no cost until the end of 2023.

PERFORMANCE

The front-wheel drive EQA 250 is driven by a single electric motor, using a single-speed gearbox.

  • Max Power: 190 hp
  • Max Torque: 375 Nm
  • 0 to 100 km/h: 8.9 seconds
  • Top Speed: 160 km/h

The 2-tonne EQA’s electric motor is powered by a 420-volt lithium-ion battery with 66.5 kWh capacity. Using the car’s 11kW on board Type 2 AC charger, the EQA can be fully charged in just 5 hours 45 minutes.

DC charging, meanwhile, is supported up to speeds of 100 kW, can get the EQA from 10 to 80% in just 32 minutes. Electric driving range is rated at 429 km. The batteries are located underneath the cabin floor, and as a result, boot space is rated at 340-litres, 100-litres smaller than the GLA.

While the EQA does share the second iteration of Mercedes-Benz’s Modular Front Architecture (MFA2) with the GLA, the platform has been re-engineered to accommodate the electric powertrain. For starters, the battery is comprised of five modules located beneath the passenger compartment in the centre of the vehicle.

EXTERIOR

As the fully electric version of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, the EQA gets distinctive features such as a covered radiator grille, and light strip across the front and rear. The headlamps also come with blue highlights to announce its EQA identity.

With the AMG Line bodykit, the EQA 250 gets a sportier front splitter and rear diffuser.
