Goodyear Assurance MaxGuard SUV tyres launched in Malaysia – 16-19 inch, from RM375

Goodyear Malaysia has announced the official launch of the Assurance MaxGuard SUV, the company’s latest addition in the Assurance range catered specifically for mid-sized SUVs and crossovers.

The new Goodyear Assurance MaxGuard SUV will serve as the successor to the Wrangler TripleMax, and is said to be customised specifically for the Asia Pacific market with a focus on improved wet grip and durability, making it ideal for customers who are shopping for tyres with safety in mind.

The new Assurance MaxGuard SUV tyres achieves its wet grip capabilities thanks to the unique tread design of Goodyear’s ActiveGrip Technology. The increased number of multi-biting edges, alongside vertical serrations on the treads and blended silica ActiveGrip cap compound help claw on to the road surfaces to provide up to 15% improved wet braking distance and 25% improved wet handling characteristics over the TripleMax.

Goodyear also says that the new Assurance MaxGuard SUV also boasts the best wet braking distance in its class, compared to three other unnamed competitors.

Meanwhile, the DuraGuard Technology employs a more robust tyre carcass to withstand cuts and punctures, alongside a two-ply steel belt package inside the tyres to ensure even more strength specific for SUV applications.

Additionally, Goodyear also claims that the new Assurance MaxGuard SUV also provides a quieter ride thanks to its new angled block design on the tread pattern, alongside a noise reduction rib and narrower outward-facing grooves. The more squared-off cavity shape and optimised tread depth also ensure a longer-lasting usage life – estimated to be around 40,000 to 60,000 km depending on the weight of the SUV and driving styles, according to Goodyear Asia Pacific product director, Jenner Powell.

“We are very excited to introduce Assurance MaxGuard SUV to the Malaysian market. We know many Malaysian drivers are family-orientated and want the best products to ensure safety. At the same time, we recognise that they are looking for comfort,” said Goodyear Malaysia Managing Director, Alex Ng.

“The Assurance MaxGuard SUV is a significant expansion of our product portfolio for SUV vehicles in providing a more pleasurable driving experience,” he added.

And just in case you’re wondering, the Goodyear Wranger line-up is now reserved for more off-road-focused tyres, while the Assurance series is for road-going applications – hence the change from Wrangler TripleMax to Assurance MaxGuard SUV, even though they’re from the same lineage.

The new Goodyear Assurance MaxGuard SUV tyres will be offered in 15 individual SKUs, suitable for rim sizes ranging from 16 to 19-inches, which means it’ll fit most of the popular midsized SUV models in the market, including the Honda CR-V and HR-V, Mazda CX-5, Nissan X-Trail, Proton X70, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Proton X50.

The Goodyear Assurance MaxGuard SUV is now available at all Goodyear Autocare Centres nationwide as well as the Goodyear Lazada Flagship Store online, priced from RM375 each.

Just like other Goodyear Assurance models, it also comes with the company’s Worry Free Assurance that includes six months of road hazard protection and a five-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects.
