Lexus Malaysia has introduced an updated 2022 version of the Lexus ES 250 which was launch here in 2019. It’s available in three variants, from RM295,663.50 for the Premium variant, RM329,910.50 for the Luxury variant.
As for the sportier, more aggressive-looking F Sport variant, that’s priced at RM345,134.00. All ES 250 variants come with 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.
PERFORMANCE
Under the hood is a 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated VVT-iE Dynamic Force engine paired to an 8-speed Direct-Shift automatic gearbox to drive the front wheels. The engine puts out 204 hp and 247 Nm, good for a 0 to 100 km/h time of 9.1 seconds.
The transmission’s Direct Connected Downshift system allows it to skip gears when large throttle openings are detected such as when overtaking on the highway.
ES 250 Luxury ES 250 F Sport
EXTERIOR
Outside, the biggest change lies in the Spindle grille of the Lexus ES (Luxury and Premium variants) where it now features fewer vertical bars. The F Sport variant comes with a completely different grille design while the cutouts on each corner of the front bumper are wider than the lower two variants.
As for headlamps, the Bi-projector LED headlamps in the Premium variant comes with a new inner bezel design while the higher Luxury and F Sport variants come with a new daytime running light design.
The Lexus ES, built on the same TNGA-K platform as the Camry comes with two new colours for the Luxury and Premium variants – Sonic Chrome and Sonic Iridium. As for the F Sport, two exclusive colours are available, Heat Blue Contrast Layering and White Nova Glass Flake.
Both the Premium and Luxury variants come with 18-inch wheels, with a new design for the former. With the F Sport variant, the ES 250 comes with 19-inch wheels. The F Sport is the only variant that comes with a spoiler.
INTERIOR
Inside, the ES 250 comes with black leather upholstery with black Walnut trims however the Luxury variants can be specified with Hazel or Mauve (dark brown) leather upholstery. The F Sport comes with aluminium trims to complement the red or black leather upholstery.
Luxury F Sport
The dashboard also sees some significant changes. The Premium variant gets an 8-inch infotainment display while the top two – Luxury and F Sport – variants come with a larger 12.3-inch display. The larger touchscreen also comes with navigation services.
The display itself has been repositioned 112 mm closer to the front passenger and tilted five degrees towards the driver. All models of the Lexus ES now comes with USB Type-C connectors.
In the F Sport models, the cabin comes with aluminium pedals and footrest along with a 3-spoke F Sport steering wheel.
The coolest part about the F Sport model is the instrument cluster with an RPM meter that moves when the engine is fired up – just like the Lexus LFA supercar!
The new models also now come with a Nanoe-X negative ion generator that improves cabin air quality. The ES the first Lexus model to introduce this feature as standard.
SAFETY
Safety and driver assistance features of the Lexus ES have also improved. All three variants come with the Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+) as standard.
The Pre-Collision System (PCS) has been updated to detect daytime cyclist detection and pedestrian detection in low light conditions. The system uses a millimetre-wave radar and monocular camera sensor with improved sensitivity and range detection.
Other features in the LSS+ system include Dynamic radar cruise control with Stop&Go function, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert and Adaptive High-beam System with BladeScan technology. Coupled with the Adaptive High-beam System is also the Adaptive Front-lighting System.
Making up the rest of the Lexus ES’ driver assistance features is the rear cross-traffic alert and parking support brake. The Parking support brake feature helps prevent frontal collisions in the event of pedal misoperation.
