We are now four episodes into the KLIA Drag Race series, and this week it’s all about the “people’s car”s – the Perodua Ativa, The Nissan Almera Turbo and Proton Iriz.
Just to make it a little more fun, we have a familiar face in the 3-car line-up. As usual we have GC Mah with the Proton Iriz, co-founder Dominic in the all-new Nissan Almera Turbo, and our former presenter Adrian who is now with Wapcar, in the new Perodua Ativa.
The Proton Iriz may seem like the weakest link among the three, as it is not turbocharged but its larger 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated engine still produces the most horsepower (109 hp) compared to the 100 hp and 98 hp in the Almera Turbo and Ativa respectively. As for the Almera Turbo and Ativa, they’re both powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine.
You’ve seen the Proton Iriz take down the new Perodua Myvi in our previous drag race video, but can the plucky little hatchback spring another surprise and rise above its turbocharged rivals? We don’t have to tell how to find out *wink*.
