BMW Malaysia to launch the new iX electric SUV soon?

BMW Malaysia has taken to Facebook again to hint at the imminent arrival of the iX all-electric SUV.

No further details were spared aside from a statement that kind of implies being stagnant or left behind if you don’t go electric. Ouch.

Roam around BMW’s official page and you’ll notice a mention about two different variants – the xDrive40 and xDrive50 – aside from all the other fancy touches (especially on the inside).

If both the variants are available, you’re looking at some powerful BMW SUVs coming our way. The xDrive50 can up and go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds with 523 hp and 765 Nm. That’s as quick as the X3 M and X4 M launched in Malaysia last year!

The ‘lesser’ xDrive40 version of the iX SUV isn’t slow either with Golf GTi-like sprinting abilities. It still packs a healthy 326 hp and 630 Nm. Both are equipped with two motors; one each in the front and back.

Both models come with an 11-kW AC Charger as standard. According to BMW, it takes eight hours to fully charge up the xDrive40 and 11 hours for the xDrive50.

Currently, the only fully electric vehicle sold locally by BMW Malaysia is not a BMW, but is the MINI Cooper SE instead, from RM218k. Stay updated by BMW Malaysia on the new iX fully-electric SUV, click here.
