Dubai Police joins 1,000 mile Mille Miglia race in Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The Mille Miglia race in Italy in the modern era traditionally involve vintage cars and sightseeing. It is one of the rare motorsport events that still follows its original route of 1,600 km (or 1,000 miles) from Brescia to Rome, Itlay and back.

This year, the Dubai Police Force has sent a rather fitting representative – a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Over the past, the original Mercedes 300SL has had success in the 1955 edition of the Mille Miglia.

The participation of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will share the United Arab Emirate’s social values of safety, security and happiness to its community of over 190 nationalities. It is also part of the communication and marketing build-up to the Mille Miglia Experience 2021 that will tour the UAE in December over five days.

“The UAE is established on the values of tolerance and openness, evident in its rich diverse society of over 190 nationalities who live and work together in harmony. We look forward to sharing these values with millions of race spectators across the world in the UAE’s Golden Jubilee year.”

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is powered by a 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine developing 571 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Plenty of styling elements such as the long bonnet, front grille, short tail and gullwing doors are inspired by the original 300SL.
