The Honda Jazz trades cute for sportiness with new Modulo X edition in Japan

The all-new Honda Jazz (or fit in certain markets) has always been seen as a bit too cutesy, so much so that it’s probably one of the reasons why the model isn’t even planned for launch here in Malaysia. Well, that is until you see the new Honda Jazz Modulo X edition – to say we’re jealous is an understatement.

Developed in-house by Honda Access, the Japanese carmaker’s genuine accessories arm, the Modulo X kit gave the Honda Jazz a completely new exterior look, trading cute for outright sportiness.

The main reason, we think, is that the Modulo X-kitted Jazz now gets a proper honeycomb grille up front, instead of the odd, bulgy metal nose. It’s science, really, because the bigger the grille, the sportier the car is – just ask BMW.

All kidding aside, the sportier Honda Jazz also gets a dedicated more aggressive new front bumper with a wider lower air intake and larger housings for the fog lamps, new tailgate spoiler, as well as a new rear bumper with diffuser-like elements. They all feature black accents, to go along with the blacked-out wing mirrors, door trims, tailgate handle, and the optional blacked-out roof.

These items are not merely for aesthetic purposes only, although they do look really, really good. Honda says that they also help improve the Jazz’s “effective aerodynamics”, which basically means aerodynamic effects at regular daily speeds.

Complementing the improved aerodynamics are a set of new dampers, which are presumably firmer to improve its handling chops, alongside new motorsports-inspired 16-inch lightweight aluminium wheels on all four corners.

On the inside, the Honda Jazz Modulo X is suited up in a Bordeaux red and black outfit, paired to a special darker accent trim on the dashboard. The front seats are even wrapped in leather and Alcantara for a sportier feel, replete with “Modulo X” stitching on the back rests.

Stunning, right? Unfortunately, the Honda Jazz Modulo X will only be available in Japan, specifically for the e:HEV variant. It’s priced at 2,866,600YEN (~RM108k), and will be available in either Platinum White Pearl, Midnight Blue Beam Metallic, or Crystal Black Pearl.
