The new Porsche Panamera celebrated its local Malaysian debut last night via a digital premiere on Porsche Malaysia’s social media platforms.
Pricing for the new Porsche Panamera by Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) starts from RM1,026,735 with SST exemption.
On sale now is the standard fastback Panamera rear-wheel drive variant, powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine with outputs of 330 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Paired to an eight-speed PDK (dual-clutch transmission), 0 to 100 km/h sprint can be achieved in 5.4 seconds with the Sport Plus mode and a top speed of 270 km/h.
The coasting function of the eight-speed PDK has been improved in the new facelift, enhancing efficiency and driving comfort.
Plenty of work has also been done on the chassis. The adaptive shock absorbers, electronic roll stabilisation, steering system and revamped engine and axle mounts have all been optimised, with the objective to make the middle ground between sporty driving and comfort as expansive as possible.
Specially developed high-performance tyres in 20 and 21-inch sizes are also available to maximise the performance of the new calibration of the chassis. Confident braking is ensured with six-piston aluminium monobloc fixed brake calipers at the front, and four-piston aluminium monobloc fixed brake calipers at the rear.
It is indeed a challenge to tell apart between the outgoing and the new facelifted outlook, as changes are minimal. The new Panamera now has standard fitment of the previously optional Sport Design front end, which features larger air intakes, a reworked front grille, and a single-bar daytime-running light signature.
At the rear, the new facelift Porsche Panamera’s fullwidth lightbar taillights have been reworked, with a new light signature that runs seamlessly across the bootlid, along with a dynamic coming/leaving home function.
Inside, the most noticeable update is the steering wheel, featuring the same item used in the 992-generation Porsche 911. The introduction of the new Porsche Panamera also debuts the Porsche Connect smartphone app service in Malaysia.
The new Panamera offers an extensive range of advanced light and assistance systems, such as the now-standard Lane Keeping Assist with road sign recognition as well as Night Vision Assist, Lane Change Assist, LED matrix headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus, Park Assist including Surround View and head-up display.
Pricing for the new Porsche Panamera begins from RM1,026,735 with SST exemption. All Porsche vehicles sold via SDAP come with a four-year warranty and free maintenance package, which includes complimentary service, labour and parts.
The Panamera line-up also includes the Sport Turismo bodystyle and various engine outputs with electrification. More information about the availability of the rest of the new Panamera line-up to follow later.
