The Porsche Boxster 25 Years comes with the best-looking wheels they’ve ever made

The Porsche Boxster is turning 25 this year. As a celebration, Porsche has unveiled a new limited-edition topless sports car called the Boxster 25 Years, complete with some sweet retrolicious equipment that is interestingly not inspired by the first production-version Boxster.

The Porsche Boxster 25 Years is actually based off of the Boxster concept car first shown off at the 1993 Detroit motor show some 28 years ago. As such, the standard spec comes in a GT Silver Metallic exterior paint job, with a Bordeaux leather interior and a red fabric roof – just as the show car was back then.

The main highlight on the Boxster 25 Years though, is of course the concept car-inspired Neodyme accents, which can be found on the front apron, side air intakes, badging, and of course the superb retro-styled 20-inch wheels. Neodyme, for those who aren’t aware, is a “copper-like shimmering brown” hue, which made its debut on the 1993 car.

You can also specify the Porsche Boxster 25 Years with either a Jet Black or Carrera White paint, as well as switching the interior and roof for black, but the Neodyme accents stay no matter what.

Other standard revisions on the 25 Years limited-edition model include the Porsche Dynamic Lighting System, high-gloss tailpipes, black windscreen surround, and an aluminium fuel filler cap. Inside, the retro-inspired model gets an Aluminium interior trim pacakage as standard, alongside unique door sill trims and 14-way electrically-adjustable seats with ‘Boxster 25’ letterings.

Being a tribute model, it would be blasphemy to use anything else but a flat-six engine. Luckily, the Boxster 25 Years will be based off the Porsche Boxster 4.0 GTS, which features a 4.0-litre flat-six underneath the sheet metal, capable of pushing 400 hp and 419 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. As is customary, a six-speed manual transmission is standard, though a seven-speed PDK is also available as an option.

Other performance bits on the limited-edition model include the PASM suspension which sits 10 mm lower than the standard Boxster, a limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring, and a sports exhaust.

The Porsche Boxster 25 Years is limited to 1,250 units worldwide, and is priced at GBP72,760 (~RM403k) – GBP7,000 (~RM39k) more than the standard GTS.
