As wearing face masks is now part of the new normal, Bosch has launched an initiative to remind road users that our cars need to “mask up” as well, with their Aeristo Premium cabin filters.
According to studies, in-car air quality can be up to 15 times more polluted than the air outside of it. Another study conducted found that 64% of drivers noticed exhaust or unpleasant smells in the car while 58% have experienced dusty air. These supposedly indicate that the cabin filter is clogged.
Commonly confused with the air filter in the engine bay, the cabin filter filters the air flowing from outside the vehicle into the car’s cabin through the air conditioning system. The condition of the cabin filter can affect the air quality in a car’s cabin and its hygiene. Typically, the cabin filter filters out contaminants such as dust, smoke, mold spores, and even pet hair.
As such Bosch’s Aeristo Premium cabin filter comes with anti-bacteria and anti-virus properties that help minimise exposure to pollutants, bacteria, and viruses. Bosch repeatedly highlighted that it is especially beneficial to those who spend hours per day in their cars.
The Bosch Aeristo Premium cabin filter has a natural polyphenol layer made out of plants. It has the ability to restrain viruses by decomposing the virus protein. Similarly, it has an anti-bacterial agent that prevents bacteria growth. This helps block out harmful bacteria in the air flowing into the cabin.
The cabin filter is also woven and layered with an electrostatically-charged material that is capable of filtering up to 98% of fine particles and air pollutants as small as 2.5 microns. To put things into perspective, a strand of human air is 50-70 microns in diameter which makes air pollutants not visible to the naked eye.
Additionally, the cabin filter comes with an activated carbon layer that absorbs and neutralises unpleasant odours and harmful gases such as smog and exhaust gases. The activated carbon is made of coconut shell with higher filtration and absorption capacity than those made of wood or coal.
Alongside, the activated carbon, the filter is also finished with an anti-allergy layer that has anti-fungus properties to prevent fungal and mold growth on the cabin filter.
