This video of the BMW M1 will blow your mind and ear drums!

The BMW M1 Procar is simply the stuff of legends. Built for a one-make series that never took off, these bad boys are capable of pushing out anywhere between 500 hp to over 1,000 hp from a mid-mounted 3.5-litre engine.

Purely based on this 2018 video, the car you see makes 470 hp and 390 Nm of torque. Due to its weight of just over 1,000 kg (perfect for hill climbs), that’s enough to propel the BMW M1 Procar from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds before it tops out at 310 km/h.

Impressive numbers but an AMG A45 would look at it and just smirk, perhaps even laugh but that’s not what this is about. It’s about the M1’s 9,000 rpm rev limit, the sound it emits while doing so and the way this BMW is driven to its absolute limit on a hill climb.

And I mean absolute limit. No gear changes are made until the straight-six engine is absolutely screaming on top of its voice and the way the driver utilised every inch of the road, especially through the corners, is nothing short of phenomenal.

On certain stretches, considering the speed of the M1, you’d cringe watching how close the car is to the edge of the road. Scary stuff when you realise there’s nothing to prevent the car from plunging into ditch or smashing into a forest of trees.

Enjoy!
