Since the announcement of Aston Martin’s Continuation car programme in 2017 that brought back the DB4 GT Continuation, the company is now working on bringing back the DB5, one of the most famous cars driven by James Bond.

Only 25 units of the DB5 Goldfinger will ever be made with each requiring 4,500 hours to build. They’ll then be sold to the tune of £2.75 million (approx. RM14.7 million) each before taxes. As for the original car, Aston Martin built no more than 900 units between 1963 to 1965.

The DB5 will only be finished in one colour – Silver Birch – just like the original. Under the bonnet is a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated straight-six carburetor engine making 294 hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed ZF manual transmission featuring a mechanical limited slip differential.

But that’s not all. Aston Martin actually wants to turn it into a real-life Bond car with an elaborate set of gadgets for both the interior and exterior. They include:

Exterior:

  • Rear smoke screen delivery system
  • Rear simulated oil slick delivery system
  • Revolving number plates front and rear (triple plates)
  • Simulated twin front machine guns
  • Bullet resistant rear shield
  • Battering rams front and rear
  • Simulated tyre slasher
  • Removable passenger seat roof panel (optional)

Interior:

  • Simulated radar screen tracker map
  • Telephone in driver’s door
  • Gear knob actuator button
  • Armrest and centre console-mounted switchgear
  • Under-seat hidden weapons/storage tray
  • Remote control for gadget activation

First deliveries of the DB5 Goldfinger Continuation will commence in the second half of 2020.
