The transformation to sustainable mobility is giving more nimble start ups the opportunity to showcase solutions for the future, and one such outfit is Swiss-based Micro Mobility Company, who recently debuted the ultra-adorable Microlino 2.0 Concept.

While one could say the concept of the Microlino 2.0 isn’t exactly new – it’s clearly inspired by the Iso Isetta; the original bubble city car made famous by BMW, there’s nothing wrong either in adopting a clever idea from the past and making it work in the modern context.
Like the original Isetta, the Microlino 2.0 seats two adults and has a storage space (220 litres) behind the occupants. But unlike the Isetta, the Microlino has four wheels (independent suspension at both ends) instead of three and is powered by a 15 hp and 100 Nm electric motor driving the rear wheels. Tipping the scales at only 513 kg, the Microlino 2.0 is thus capable of accelerating from idle to 50 km/h in 5 seconds, with top speed of 90 km/h.
When equipped with the 14.4 kWh battery option (the standard capacity is 8kWh), the Microlino 2.0 can travel up to a range of 200 km, after which its lithium-ion battery pack can be topped up within four hours using a house plug. Micro Mobility Company says that they have already accumulated 17,000 pre-orders for the Microlino 2.0 which retails from 12,000 Euros. Production is expected to start in 2021.
