Porsche dominates Top 3 spots in “Performance category” of World Car Awards



In a time when new sportscars are sprouting faster than we can digest, it seems the old guards, Porsche, are still the go-to guys when performance is concerned.

The Top 3 finalists for five different categories of the World Car Awards have been finalised and Porsche seems to have their hand in almost every one of them.

These finalists have been nominated via a secret ballot based on their evaluation of each vehicle by a jury of 86 international automotive journalists.

The five categories are as follow:

World Car of the Year
1. Kia Telluride
2. Mazda CX-30
3. Mazda 3

World Urban Car
1. Kia Soul EV
2. MINI Electric
3. Volkswagen T-Cross

World Luxury Car
1. Porsche 911
2. Porsche Taycan
3. Mercedes-Benz EQC

World Performance Car
1. Porsche 911
2. Porsche 718 Cayman GT4/Spider
3. Porsche Taycan

World Car Design of the Year
1. Porsche Taycan
2. Mazda 3
3. Peugeot 208

Winners from each of the five categories above will be announced on the 8th of April 2020 in conjunction with the New York Auto Show. Now into its 15th year, the World Car Awards (WCA) is initiated, organised and conducted by automotive journalists from all over the world.

The organisation is administered by a non-profit association, under the guidance of a Steering Committee made up of distinguished automotive journalists from Asia, Europe, and North America.
