2019 Perodua Axia will be a whole lot safer and possibly funkier too!

Two years after its facelift exercise, Perodua has announced that the updated 2019 Axia, now available in six different variants (E, G, GXtra, Style, SE and Advance), is open for booking.

No changes have been made to the power and drivetrain as the updated models retain the 67 hp/91 Nm 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed auto. Unlike before, the manual option is now strictly for the base model E.

Estimated prices of the 2019 Perodua Axia.

By far the biggest change in the updated 2019 Axia is on the aspect of safety; with the inclusion of the Advanced Safety Assist (2.0) driver assistance system first introduced in the Aruz and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).

The former is only available in the Advance variant of the 2019 Axia. All models are similarly equipped with dual airbags as before.

The suite of driver assistance systems include Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control.

Pre-Collision Warning works between 4 km/h to 100 km/h and Pre-Collision Braking between 4 km/h to 80 km/h (for vehicles) and 4 km/h to 50 km/h (for pedestrians).

That’s not all. It seems Perodua has more in store for us with the introduction of new “Style” variant which appears to be a mini crossover of sorts based on the pictures. Otherwise not much has been revealed on the “Style” variant except its fuel consumption figure of 20.8 km/l.

It’s possibly down to the added weight as it appears to have roof rails as per the picture above. Perhaps bigger wheels as well? But that’s all just a wild guess for now so stay tuned!
