Last weekend saw Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) organised one of the largest Beetle gathering in Malaysia where over 405 Beetles were present.

The event, held at Putrajaya, was kicked off with a morning drive made up of 138 Beetle that subsequently joined the gathering later on.

Some Beetles, despite of their age, came from as far as Perlis and Johor just to be there to celebrate the occasion.

“It was an emotional moment for us to see the rows and rows of colourful air-cooled and water-cooled Beetle cars and I believe all those who were present today shared this sentiment, said VPCM Managing Director, Erik Winter.

In conjunction with the event, meant to bid farewell to Beetle, VPCM also took the opportunity to award three Beetles with the “Best in Show” title and selected one other as the “Most Liked Car” on social media.

The winners of the “Best in Show” were Fairul Irwan, Raja Gopal and Thavanesan A/L Selvaratnam, while Siti Aishah Ismail’s Instagram posting of her Bug earned the “Most Liked Car” award.

The Volkswagen Beetle “Collector’s Edition”.

Also on display was the “Collector’s Edition” Beetle which was launch in Malaysia just a day after the last Beetle rolled out from Volkswagen’s production line in Puebla, Mexico.
