Dodge Challenger Hellcat outruns the police and a news helicopter

Running away from the cops is never a good idea; in fact it should never be an idea but if you’re mad enough to apply yourself in the real world, just like you would in Grand Theft Auto, make sure you succeed.

And that’s exactly what the driver of a stolen Dodge Challenger Hellcat did. With well over 700 hp, the Hellcat led the authorities to a wild goose chase that lasted more than an hour – weaving through traffic at speeds in excess of 100 mph (160 km/h).

In fact, at one point, it even outran the news helicopter which was in pursuit at top speed; relying solely on its telescopic lens to maintain visual contact of the car.

Unsurprisingly, because of its massive 6.2-litre supercharged V8, the Hellcat eventually ran out of luck and also petrol – forcing its 25-year old driver to pull over the side of the highway and proceed on foot. The police eventually caught on where he was sentenced to three years in prison.

Regularly spend countless hours online looking at cars and parts I can't afford to buy. How a car makes you feel behind the wheel should be more important than the brand it represents - unless resale value is your thing.
