Don’t underestimate the subdued looks of this new Jaguar XE SV Project 8 “Touring”

Remember the XE SV Project 8 – the car that set a new record for the fastest saloon car around the Nurburgring back in 2017?

Well Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division has developed a more restrained, road-oriented version of the extreme model that features a new, more discreet rear spoiler with removed body decals that masks the car’s fire-breathing ferocity.

There will only be 15 examples of the Touring specification Project 8, as it is called, fitted with a fixed front splitter and a fixed “Touring spoiler” that replaces the more extreme version’s carbon fibre rear wing.

Under the hood, thankfully nothing about the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 has been tampered with, delivering the same 600 hp with 700 Nm. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.3 seconds with top speed limited to 300 km/h.

Not contented with its achievement around the Nurburgring, the more extreme XE SV Project 8 recently also set a new record for the fastest production sedan around the Laguna Seca circuit.
