Future Geely cars are going to look like this and we are loving it

Geely Auto has just unveiled the Geely Preface Concept sedan at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, a design study that previews the brand’s next-generation Expanding Cosmos design language as well as future high-end sporty models.

The Preface Concept is based on the Geely-Volvo developed Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform that combines dynamic driving characteristics with intelligent drive technologies to offer users a sporty yet refined and safe driving experience.

While every other manufacturer is coming out with SUVs after SUVs (especially VW), Geely is returning to its roots of making attractive sedans and the Preface Concept is a testament to that. This is not a blind move either because the SUV market saw a downtrend in China while sales of sedan vehicles are growing. It is also another reason why Geely’s first electric brand, Geometry launched a sedan as their first model instead of an SUV.

The Preface Concept features strong proportions all round with wide wheel track and large alloy wheels to fill the wheel arches confidently with clean body lines giving the Concept car a sporty yet sleek appearance. The Expanding Cosmos grille now takes on a new shape with vertical slats, central floating logo and chrome surrounds.

Just like the exterior, the cabin features a clean and minimalistic look dominated by two large displays – instrument cluster and infotainment with very little buttons to clutter the cabin. The flat bottom steering wheel hints towards future models with sporty intent as compared to their current line up of vehicles.

Geely expressed that consumers can expect several new-generation models to be introduced to global markets over the next two years but stopped short at revealing which segments the new cars are going to enter.

One thing is for sure if the design language of the Preface Concept trickles down into their production cars, we are excited for not only Geely but also Proton.
